A goal in each half handed Moors all three points against Southport at The Brewery Field and extended their winning run to five games in all competitions.
Glen Taylor thumped Moors into the lead just before the break as he beat Renshaw from close range, before Junior Mondal doubled the advantage with 66 minutes on the clock.
The visitors had a half chance snuffed out by the wind early on as Mo Touray’s free-kick swerved into the arms of Brad James.
Moors looked to be through on goal after a brilliant ball in behind from Olly Dyson found the run of Taylor, but the flag was raised for offside.
Loanee, Tom Pugh, drove with strength towards goal, before firing an effort goalwards, which was parried back into the midfielder’s path by keeper Chris Renshaw. However, Pugh’s follow up went well wide.
Taylor saw a chance go amiss as he struck a well hit effort on goal from the left-edge of the area, only for it to fly over the bar.
Dyson continued to cause problems down the right for the visitors as he got free, before sweeping a ball across the face of goal which couldn’t quite reach a Moors man.
Mondal went close to putting Moors ahead on 34 minutes as he got onto the end of a long ball from Matty Dolan. The winger took a touch, before slamming an effort on goal, only for Renshaw to produce another good save.
Southport’s first real chance came as Jordan Slew broke into the penalty area. The big number 9 jinked towards the by-line before unleashing a powerful effort that struck the side netting.
Moors did take the lead with just two minutes of the first half remaining, as Glen Taylor yet again proved to be the scourge of Southport.
Dyson’s looped ball to the back post found the captain, who’s downward header was well saved by Renshaw, only for the ball to bounce back out to Taylor, who made no mistake and thumped home into the roof of the net.
Graeme Lee’s side looked to continue the pressure into the second half, as Taylor almost doubled the lead just five minutes after the break. His strike, however, flew up and over the bar.
Another chance went begging soon after as Dolan stepped up to fire a free-kick on goal, only to see it claimed in the air by Renshaw.
It was one way traffic by this point as Moors came forward again. Taylor’s flicked ball onto Ramshaw saw the number 10 get away down the left, forcing a corner out of a Southport defender as his cross was blocked.
Mondal almost produced an unbelievable goal on the hour mark, as Tom Pugh laid the ball off to him on the edge of the area. However, the in-form attacker’s first-time strike was superbly tipped wide by Southport’s Number 1.
Mondal did get his goal just six minutes later as Ramshaw’s shot from the edge of the area deflected into his path, setting him up well to slot home low into the back of the net and put Moors into a commanding lead.
Pugh looked to give Taylor his second of the game as he drove towards the by-line before attempting a low cross into the striker’s path, but his attack was snuffed out by a Sandgrounders man.
The captain had a good chance to put Moors three up with 10 minutes to go as he fired a powerful free-kick goalward, only to see it smash off the wall.
Summer signing, Dan Jones went close from a Dolan corner, as the ball dropped kindly for the defender inside the area. His effort, though, trickled wide.
Both sides had a chance in the final stages, first through Corey McKeown, who’s low ball in found Taylor only for his strike went wide of the mark. Then Port substitute, Sonny Hilton, had his shot from distance saved by James.
Another three points for Moors, extending their winning streak to five in a row, as well as an equally as impressive five successive clean sheets. Focus now shifts to the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round next Saturday.
