Glen Taylor’s Testimonial Golf Day was a massive success on Wednesday as 18 teams competed in a memorable event at Brancepth Castle Golf Course.
The Moors legend hosted the Golf Day as part of his celebrations after reaching 10 years at The Brewery Field to follow on from his Testimonial match against Stockport County in the summer.
A host of Taylor’s teammates, past and present, turned up to join the fun which was played out to the picturesque backdrop of Brancepeth Castle.
“It was an absolutely amazing day and I think everyone who played had a great time,” said Taylor.
“I would like to thank all those who put so much tireless work in to the organisation of the day and to everyone who came along and supported it.
“I’m not the world’s best golfer but I do love playing but that’s the first time I’ve taken part in a Golf Day – so it was really special that it was my own!”
A raffle and auction were also held as part of the event, while all players got the chance to take part in a penalty shootout at the end of the ninth hole.
The overall winners on the day were LWC, while prizes were also presented for Nearest to the Pin competitions and for the longest drive.
Former Premier League referee Jeff Winter also joined us at Brancepeth Castle to help present the awards and compere the auction.
All proceeds from the event went directly into Glen Taylor’s Testimonial Fund.
