Report: Chorley 0 Moors 0

A freezing cold evening at Victory Park saw Moors share the points in a National League North stalemate with Chorley.

Graeme Lee made one change to his starting eleven, as Dan Rowe returned from suspension to partner Dan Jones in the centre of defence.

Moors had a chance to go in front early on as Junior Mondal struck in the third minute, only to see his effort saved by Matt Urwin.

Bobby Jones was called into action just after the 20-minute mark, as he had to get his leg in the way of Tom Carr’s close-range effort.

Another chance went begging for Lee’s side when Mondal’s pass found Corey McKeown on the edge of the area. The winger let fly but struck well over the bar.

Similarly, at the other end, Max Wilson’s first-time strike met the same fate just three minutes later.

A counter-attack spelled danger for the hosts when Rob Ramshaw broke away and slipped a ball through into the path of Mondal. The number 11 drove forward before playing a ball to Cam Salkeld, who took aim, but saw his effort stopped by Urwin.

Rowe could’ve put Moors ahead with one minute of the first half remaining, as he met Tom Pugh’s corner at the near post. However, his header looped up and over the bar.

A ball into the area broke kindly for Salkeld on the 56th minute and it looked as if he would poke home the opener, but the flag was up for offside.

Chorley’s best chances of the game came just two minutes later, and in rapid succession. Mike Calveley was first up, as he saw his curling effort cleared off the line by Dan Jones, before Tom Walker had his effort palmed away by the outstretched glove of Bobby Jones.

Chances were few and far between in the second half, as Milan Lalkovic created the game’s last clear-cut opportunity with just under half an hour left to play when he curled an effort wide of the mark.

Cam Salkeld and Olly Dyson put balls in the box as the game wound down, but neither came to anything. Nor did Tom Carr’s opportunity, as the offside flag went up against him.

Matty Dolan’s free-kick late on was cleared by Chorley, and concluded the game’s action.
