Moors Ladies claimed three points at the end of an astonishing encounter with Brunsmeer Athletic Women at Hillsborough College on Sunday.
Nikita Hemmingway’s side finally came out on top following a rollercoaster encounter which saw them prevail by the odd goal in ELEVEN in Sheffield.
From the first whistle, both sides looked to get on the front foot, and it never looked likely to be a drab affair with chances coming thick and fast in the opening period.
A first half double from Kelly Garcia plus goals from Sophie Hodgson and Jenny Priestley gave Moors the edge as they went in leading 4-3 at the break after a captivating opening 45 minutes.
Hemmingway’s players had to work hard when things resumed in the second half as the hosts continued to apply the pressure.
However, Garcia completed her hat-trick and Amy Richardson also found the net to ensure Moors came out on top 6-5 at the end of a remarkable encounter.
“Fair play to Brunsmeer because they gave us a real game today and it could have gone either way,” Hemmingway told us afterwards.
“Obviously we’re pleased to score six times away from home but we’ll have to look at the defensive side because we obviously made things difficult for ourselves at times.
“It’s pleasing to come away with the points from one of our longest trips though so credit to the girls for sticking at it and congratulations to Kelly on her hat-trick – she was superb.”
