Fans will get the chance to be crowned the World Egg Jarping champion on Good Friday when the showpiece global event once again comes to The Brewery Field.
Last year, Sadie Hartnett walked away with the coveted crown and earlier this week we had confirmation that she will be back on Friday to defend her title.
If you’ve not played the game before, Egg Jarping is an Easter tradition which sees competitors butt hard boiled eggs together in a similar way to conkers.
A knockout competition will take place in the Sports Bar after the Good Friday game against South Shields during which competitors will attempt to take their egg all the way to the Final – with whoever’s egg is left uncracked declared champion.

Rules for Egg Jarping include:
- You must keep the same egg throughout the tournament
- No varnishing or artificial heating of the egg
- Both feet must remain on the floor at the time of impact
- No run-ups
Each competitor will be asked to pay a small entry fee with all proceeds being donated to The Roy Simpson MBE Foundation – a charity set-up in memory of the father of current Moors Secretary Mark Simpson.
So, do you think you’ve got what it takes to become the 2026 World Egg Jarping Champion?
Come along and have enjoy some Easter fun with us in the Sports Bar on Friday while also helping a worthy cause in the process.
It’ll be cracking!
