We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Tommy Miller as our Men’s First Team Manager for the 2026/27 National League North campaign.
Miller returned to The Brewery Field in February as part of a joint interim management team with Matty Dolan and he oversaw an impressive upturn in from during the closing months of the season.
Following discussions between Miller and the Club, it has now been agreed that he will assume the Manager’s role on a permanent basis ahead of 2026/27. Miller is also expected to name a new Assistant Manager in the coming weeks.
Dolan will remain as a player but will take on a Player-Coach role, while he has also been appointed as Academy Manager. He will play a crucial role in building a strong pathway for local young players and strengthening our Academy programmes in partnership with New College Durham and Bede Sports College.
Jason Ainsley will continue as Head of Football, taking on a more direct responsibility for all football matters, including enhancing and overseeing the Club’s recruitment strategy.
The Club would like to thank Gavin Cogdon for his assistance with the First Team in recent months. Cogdon will now refocus on a role as Head of Community and Club Development, leading on strategic progress for our Academy, Moors in the Community and Moors Ladies, also overseeing our link with Spennymoor Town Youth. The Men’s First Team will also continue to benefit from Cogdon’s Strength & Conditioning provision into 2026/27.
Work is continuing behind the scenes to further strengthen the off-field operation, with further developments to be announced in due course with regards to performance, medical and scouting.
“Having Tommy and Matty oversee things so effectively over the last couple of months has allowed us to reevaluate the entire structure,” explained Moors’ Managing Director, Ian Geldard.
“We have come so close to reaching the play-offs in recent seasons and we want to build on that by providing the best possible platform for success across all areas.
“Time has been taken to analyse the way we operate and how we can improve that structure and we’re confident that the changes we’re making can help us achieve our aims.”
