We begin our summer review of the new teams joining us in National League North for 2026/27 and today we’re off to St James Park…
How did they get here?
Brackley Town’s relegation back to National League North was confirmed with two games left to play after they slumped to a 1-0 defeat away at Scunthorpe United.
Their relegation brought to an end a one year stay in the National League after The Saints won promotion as National League North champions the season before in 2024/25.
They picked up six points from their opening three fixtures of the campaign, but 24 defeats in their 46 games ultimately cost them, as they made an instant return to the National League North.
Where do they play?
Brackley play out their home games at St James Park and have done so since they moved to the site on Churchill Way back in 1974.
The stadium has a capacity of 4,046.
Who is in charge?
Andy Whing is the man in the hotseat at St James’ Park, having been appointed in February of this year.
The former Barrow boss has plenty of National League experience under his belt, with clubs such as Solihull Moors and Banbury United.
In his time with Solihull, Whing twice guided the Moors to Wembley, for both an FA Trophy Final and the National League Play-Off Final. He also secured Banbury’s first ever promotion to National League North in his time with The Puritans.
The Saints boss will now be looking to guide his side back to step one of the non-league pyramid at the first attempt.
When did we last meet?
Moors’ last outing against The Saints proved disappointing as Brackley ran out 4-1 winners at St James Park.
Three goals in the first half set the tone for the hosts, before Rob Ramshaw pulled one back late on. However, any chance of a comeback was quickly subdued when Connor Hall added a fourth soon after.
Brackley were held to a 2-2 draw in our last meeting at The Brewery Field earlier in that season. Moors led twice, only to be pegged back on both occasions, with a 90th minute free-kick rescuing a point for the visitors.
