Ladies Star Doogan Surprises Mini Moors

Our Mini Moors programme is going from strength to strength with a growing number of youngsters enjoying our weekly football sessions – and they were surprised by a special guest recently!

The thriving scheme is giving children between the ages of 2 and 7 the opportunity to be introduced to the beautiful game for the first time in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We have three hugely popular hour-long sessions for different age groups taking place every week in the Sports Hall at Whitworth Park Academy – and right now there are limited spaces for more players to join the fun!

Saturday (9am-10am): 2-3 year-olds
Saturday (10am-11am): 4-5 year-olds
Tuesday (4.30pm-5.30pm): 5-6 year-olds

Moors Ladies star Holly Doogan recently went along to one of the sessions to surprise the youngsters, watch them in action and then chat to them about her journey in football so far.

“It’s great to see so many current Reception children enjoying their football and developing every week,” said Gavin Cogdon, Moors’ Head of Community and Club Development.

“They were so excited to see Holly when she came along to the session recently and hopefully it’s inspiring to see that there is a genuine route to our First Teams for boys and girls.

“The development pathway we have in place at Spennymoor Town is designed to give young players the perfect start in football through fun, structured sessions which focus on confidence, movement and learning.”

Each player who joins Mini Moors in the youngest age groups will be automatically enrolled in the Club’s full Under 6 Development pathway and also be entered into a fortnightly draw to win the chance to be a mascot at a Moors game during 2026/27.
