We’re set to welcome football icon Jill Scott MBE to The Brewery Field on Friday 12th June as part of an incredible charity challenge for Comic Relief.
The former Lionesses international is making her way home. Not just to a place, but to the people and communities that shaped her. And you
Making her way from Wembley to Sunderland, Jill’s five-day duathlon is about giving back to the communities which give people a sense of belonging, confidence and support when they need it most.
This extraordinary five-day, 388-mile test of endurance across England, will see Jill tackle a combination of running and cycling to travel between Wembley Stadium to her hometown of Sunderland and the Stadium of Light.
On route, she’ll travel through Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester – homes to some of the stand-out stadiums of her professional footballing career – before finishing in the North East, a place she calls home.
And on Friday 12th June at around 9.30am she will call into The Brewery Field for a pitstop – and fans are being urged to line the streets outside the ground to give her a huge Spennymoor welcome.
Every mile raises money for Sport Relief–funded projects which use sport to help provide safety, support and security for people when they need it most.
Jill Scott’s Coming Home Challenge for Sport Relief is about helping more people find a place they can call home.
