Moors Ladies Appoint New First Team Coach

Moors Ladies have bolstered their coaching set-up with the addition of new First Team Coach, Dan Burrell, who will take up the role ahead of the 2026/27 NERWFL Premier Division campaign.

Burrell joins Moors Ladies’ backroom staff, working alongside First Team Manager, Nikita Hemmingway and Head Coach Ella Beecham.

We spoke with Dan on his arrival at the Club to find out more about his ambitions for the new season.

What attracted you to join the Moors?
I was attracted to join Moors due to the strengths of the Club both on and off the pitch. On the pitch, it is a tight-knit team that works hard and has quality in every position. Off the pitch, the size and stature of the Club hits you straight away. The infrastructure and the history makes it a really attractive project.

What are your personal aims for the season ahead and aims for the team?
My personal aims are to get promoted, ideally winning the league. To make that happen, we’ll sit down as a management team to discuss the team’s style of play and recruitment to ensure we’re in the best possible position to hit the ground running.

How would you describe your coaching style?
I’m very passionate and demanding when coaching. I drive sessions to a high intensity, meaning training should feel like a match. I’m very detailed in my approach to both training and games to make sure we’re fully prepared for a matchday.

Can you just tell us a bit about your previous experience?
I am currently a coach with Sunderland Foundation of Light and have previous (promotion winning) experience across both women’s and men’s football, most recently at Chester-le-Street Women and Jarrow Men’s Reserves Team. I’ve been involved in two league and cup doubles over the past two seasons, which I’m immensely proud of. I’m hoping to continue the streak here.
