Moors Trio To Star In Charity Cricket Event

Boss Tommy Miller along with First Team Coach Matty Dolan and defender Dan Jones are all taking part in a charity cricket match in Peterlee this coming Sunday.

The event is a fundraiser for The Roy Simpson MBE Foundation, a charity set up in memory of Moors Secretary Mark Simpson’s father.

Last year’s inaugural cricket match at Roy’s beloved Peterlee proved a huge success – so it’s happening again at Helford Road on Sunday with a 2pm start time.

Former Moors management team Graeme Lee and Ian Clark are both playing too, while former Hartlepool United stars Micky Barron, Mark Tinkler, Antony Sweeney, Scott Fenwick and Jonathan Franks are among the others taking to the pitch.

“We had such a good time last year we had to do it all again,” explained Mark.

“I am looking forward to seeing what Tommy, Matty and Dan can do with a bat this time around but it’s all about having fun really and raising money for a good cause.

“I’m so grateful to all those involved and everyone who has helped organise the event and it would mean so much to me to see plenty of Moors fans there on Sunday.”

Entry is just £3 and every penny raised will go towards the Foundation, who are committed to investing in youth cricket throughout County Durham.
