Mackenzie Heaney has today announced his retirement from football at the age of 27 following the conclusion of the 2025/26 National League North season.

The midfielder arrived at The Brewery Field for an undisclosed fee from South Shields in the summer of 2025, going on to make 45 appearances in Moors colours.

In that time, Heaney scored 2 goals and assisted on 6 separate occasions, proving a reliable player in last season’s play-off push.

Mackenzie hangs up the boots after an impressive 10 year career, in which he featured for both England and Scotland at international level.

“I’ve lived the dream many lads wish they could and I’m forever grateful for it.” Said Heaney.

“Moving forward it’s full focus on building the best gym and business I can.” Mackenzie explained. “While transitioning into a different sport and seeing where that takes me.”
