A late penalty from Danny Johnson saw Moors win a point in a tight contest against Macclesfield at the Brewery Field.

The visitors opened the scoring through ex Moors man, Fin Shrimpton before Johnson’s spot-kick levelled things up with 9 minutes to go.

The first chance for the visitors came just three minutes in, as Ammar Dyer sent a long range strike just wide of the right post after good work in midfield.

Another chance for the visitors came soon after, as a well worked corner found Adan George in the box who saw his shot brilliantly blocked on the line by Sam Murray and cleared away.

Macclesfield went on to find the breakthrough on the half-hour mark as Fin Shrimpton found the net with a low finish into the far left corner. A loose ball in the centre of the park allowed Paul Dawson to pick up the pieces and slip a pass in behind for the number 14, who made no mistake and fired the Silkmen ahead.

Moors did have the ball in the back of the net through Cam Salkeld on the stroke of half time, however, the linesman’s flag had already been raised for offside.

Jason Ainsley’s side almost found an equaliser just a couple of minutes into the second 45, as captain, Matty Dolan drove towards goal and unleashed a low strike that just went past the right post.

A huge chance for Moors went begging just after the hour mark when Dolan sent a perfect cross to the head of Richie Bennett. His effort was brilliantly saved by Christian Dibble in the Macclesfield net.

Macclesfield nearly added a second on with 15 to play, as Luke Duffy’s corner troubled Moors’ defence, who only managed to clear the ball as far as Jon Ustabasi whose shot was well saved by Oram.

The referee awarded a Penalty to Moors with just 10 minutes to go as Cameron Borthwick-Jackson fouled Junior Mondal in the box and in the process earned himself a second yellow card, as Macclesfield were reduced to 10 men for a second game in a row.

Substitute, Danny Johnson stepped up and hit it well to the left side of the net past the Silkemn goalkeeper, who dived the right way but just couldn’t get his hands to it.

There was a big chance for the visitors on the counter attack just a few minutes later as George Wilson raced clear. However, he sent his shot narrowly wide of Oram’s left post.
