Moors booked their place in the Third Qualifying Round of the 2026/27 FA Cup following an emphatic victory over Emley at The Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

Jack Young opened the scoring in the first half with a smart finish, before doubling up after the break with a low strike beneath the ‘keeper. Danny Johnson made it three late on, with Glen Taylor chipping home for four with the last kick of the game.

Moors started well as Junior Mondal found space inside the area to strike, but saw his low effort go narrowly wide of the right post.

Debutant, Matt Urwin was called into action with 17 minutes on the clock as he got down well to his left to deny a promising looking header from Pewits Captain, Jack Cowgill.

Jason Ainsley’s side went close soon after, as Richie Bennett saw his curled effort parried away from goal by Ben Bottomley, before Matty Dolan’s follow up dropped just wide of the mark.

Urwin was again on hand to deny an Emley header, this time from Gabriel Johnson, who saw his effort somehow clawed away by the outstretched arm of Moors’ Number 33.

Moors took the lead on the 27th minute, as Young got his first goal of the season. A long throw-in from Dan Jones on the right hand side, was flicked on by Ben Pollock into the path of the midfielder, who saw the ball deflect off his foot and into the bottom left corner for a fortunate opener.

It could’ve been two for Moors with five minutes of the first half remaining, when Cam Salkeld got in behind. However, a good stop from Emley’s Bottomley denied our number 24 with a smart save down to his left.

The hosts saw a half chance go begging on the stroke of half time, when Aaron Haswell fired high and wide of the mark.

It was two to the good soon after the break, as Young doubled both his and Moors’ tally for the afternoon. A ball into the area was nodded down by Bennett, which landed in the path of the number 27. He took a touch, before smashing a low effort beneath Bottomley and into the back of the net.

Richard Tracey’s side looked to cut the deficit back to just one immediately after the goal with a smart passage of play from a left-wing corner, but Haswell’s effort trickled wide of the right post.

Glen Taylor saw chances come and go towards the end of the game; first as he was denied by Bottomley from the left hand side of the goal, before thumping a powerful half-volley wide from the edge of the area soon after.

Substitute, Danny Johnson made it three goals in four games in stoppage time, when he tapped home from close range after being set up superbly by Jack Young, who could’ve gone for goal himself to complete his hat-trick.

Moors rounded off the afternoon’s affairs by making it four. Glen Taylor got the goal this time, as some good work between him and Johnson saw the number 9 find space in the area to chip an effort over Bottomley and into the net.

The draw for the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup will be made at 1pm on Monday 21st September.
