Spennymoor Town have agreed a deal to sign midfielder, Darren Palmer on non-contract terms.

A product of Newcastle United’s academy set-up, Palmer becomes Peter Hartley’s 2nd signing since his appointment earlier this week.

The young playmaker spent the last 5 years at Newcastle, making 66 appearances across the U18s and U21s, scoring 8 and assisting 10 in that time.

The midfielder signs for the club on non-contract terms following a short period without a club following his departure from the Magpies this summer.

Peter Hartley had this to say about his new man…

“We haven’t got anyone like him in the squad with his burst of pace, sharpness and ability to manipulate the ball in tight areas”

Palmer will wear the number 23 and is eligible for selection this afternoon.
