Sunderland-based Procure Smart, Principal Partner to Spennymoor Town FC, has been recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing businesses after achieving 120 per cent turnover growth in just two years. The business is positioned 32nd in the Northern rankings.
The business cost-saving service has been named on the 2026 UK Fast Growth Index, which celebrates the UK’s most ambitious and rapidly expanding independent companies. Procure Smart was recognised as the UK’s fastest-growing business cost reduction consultancy and ranked among the fastest-growing businesses in the North of England.
Founded in Sunderland in 2022, Procure Smart was established to exceed customer expectations of speed, transparency and results. The business was created in response to widespread challenges facing organisations across the UK, including escalating costs, market volatility, supplier frustrations and increasingly complex commercial environments.
Drawing on more than a decade of industry experience, the founding team set out to challenge traditional approaches to procurement and business utilities while providing businesses with expert guidance, innovative technology and measurable commercial outcomes. The team also co-founded the Energy Consultants Association, a not-for-profit regulatory body focused on improving transparency and protecting businesses through collaboration with regulators, government and suppliers.
Since launch, Procure Smart has grown rapidly, supporting more than 3,500 customers nationwide while achieving a 5-star Google rating, 4.9-star Trustpilot rating and a Net Promoter Score of 83.
The latest recognition follows another significant achievement for the business. Earlier this year, Procure Smart was ranked 9th overall and 4th in the Small Business category in the prestigious Ward Hadaway Fastest 50, further cementing its position as one of the North East’s fastest-growing companies.
The 2026 UK Fast Growth Index highlights the 350 fastest-growing independent businesses across the UK’s nations and regions. Collectively, these businesses have more than doubled in size over the last two years, with combined turnover increasing from £4.3 billion in 2023 to £10.2 billion in 2025, representing growth of 137 per cent.
