Goals either side of the break condemned Moors to defeat away from home at the hands of King’s Lynn Town.
Kwame Thomas opened the scoring from the spot just after the hour mark, before Ross Crane found the bottom left corner from inside the area to double their advantage.
Moors were forced into some early defensive action as Nelson Digbeu slid in to win a goal-kick after good work from the hosts on the right hand side, before Fin Holcroft saw his whipped cross claimed by Ronnie Hollingshead at the other end soon after.
The first real chance of the game fell the way of Moors. A smart ball from Jack Young on the edge of the box found Rob Ramshaw in the right hand side of the penalty area. He looped a high ball towards the far post which found Richie Bennett, who saw a downward header to drop just wide of the mark.
King’s Lynn saw half chances go begging in quick succession, with the first coming through Jesse Nwabueze. A curled effort from the number 19 flew over the bar, before Ross Crane saw a low driven strike bounce off the root of the post less than a minute later.
The hosts won themselves a penalty on 35 minutes, as Nwabueze was brought down by George Cantrill just inside the 18-yard box.
Kwame Thomas stepped up to take the spot-kick and fired home into the top right corner, despite the best efforts of Urwin in the Moors net, who got a hand to the effort.
Ethan Moore went close to levelling the scores with just a minute of the first half remaining, as he got on the end of Connor Pani’s ball in behind. His strike was well tipped over the bar well by Hollinghseah
Moors went close to an equaliser just after the break as Pani’s ball across the face of goal bobbled around on the goal-line, but no Moors attacker could prod home for the levelled.
A quick counter from the hosts spelled danger on the 58th minute mark, but Holcroft recovered well to slide in and block a low driven strike from Nwabueze on the left hand side of the penalty area.
A few half chances fell the way of Peter Hartley’s side though Junior Mondal and Glen Taylor, though neither efforts tested the keeper. Mondal’s curled shot from the edge of the area flew high and wide of the mark, before Taylor’s powerful free-kick was deflected behind.
Despite pressure from Moors, it was the Linnets who went on to find the net for their second of the afternoon. A great run from Crane saw him break away from Digbeu’s challenge, before driving into the penalty area and smashing an effort into the bottom left corner.
Crane could’ve had another with 16 minutes to go, when he navigated a header downwards and towards the bottom corner. However, Urwin was on hand to stop the effort down to his left.
Substitute, Ihsan Rehman looked to half the deficit on 83 minutes when he stole the ball from a Linnets man 30-yards from goal. He drove forward before slipping a ball into the path of Danny Johnson, who was flagged offside.
Digbeu tried his luck at a consolation goal with an ambitious 30-yard attempt, which flew well over the bar as the referee blew for full time.
