Favourites: Ian Clark

We corner Ian Clark with our list of questions in a bid to find out a little more about the Club’s Assistant Manager – let’s see how we get on…

Favourite crisps?
Cheese and onion Pringles – they are so moreish. Once your start with them, it’s difficult to stop!

Favourite drink?
I don’t drink alcohol, so a flat white is good for me. I try not to drink too much of it though.

Favourite sandwich?
A tuna and cheese hot panini – lovely.

Favourite pizza?
I do like a pizza. I would say my favourite would be like a garlic chicken one from the takeaway round the corner from me. It’s lovely.

Favourite footballer?
Paul Gascoigne. I remember watching him when I was growing up and then he played in a charity game when I was at Darlington. When our manager David Hodgson was doing the team talk before the game, the door crashes open and Gazza bowled in and caused absolute uproar, then just sat down and opened a can of Red Bull! Haha! In his prime, he was an unbelievable footballer.

Favourite match?
The favourite match I played in was probably when Hartlepool went to Hull on the last day of the season to try and get into the play-offs for the first time. We won 3-0 and I set Spike (Graeme Lee) up for the first goal!

Favourite song?
I do like my music. The Man Who Can’t Be Moved by The Script.

Favourite band?
The Script, I have seen them a few times. The lad who died was excellent and he had a big impact on the band.

Favourite stadium?
I played at Bolton’s stadium which was called The Reebok Stadium at the time, and that was unbelievable. It was just opened, before it’s time and was a great place to play.

Favourite film?
I do like to watch films quite regularly. I would say Hannah Montana but that’s more for my kids – honestly! High School Musical is watched in my house quite a lot too. Wicked The Movie is outrageous as well, I have watched that a few times and have seen the musical nine times.

Favourite TV series?
Auf Wiedesehen, Pet. When I was growing up it was always being shown on the television, and it was definitely ahead of its time. It was just so good.

Favourite teammate?
Haha, as a player Spike was my favourite and he’s my favourite staff member now too! We roomed together when we played together at Hartlepool. To be honest, he was in bed for 9pm, didn’t wake up until 10am and he brought chocolate on away trips, so he was a brilliant roommate!
