Callum Ross has been released from his contract by mutual consent following amicable discussions between the player and the Club.
The midfielder joined Moors from South Shields in January 2023 and has gone on to make 99 appearances in all competitions since then.
The Club had initially decided to take up the option on Ross’ contract to keep the 30-year-old at The Brewery Field into the 2025/26 campaign.
However, following a change in his work situation, Ross made us aware that he did not feel able to commit to a level that would do him or the Club justice.
Ross has now joined North Shields for the new season but has also agreed non-contract terms with Moors on a dual registration, meaning he could still feature for us on occasions.
“We’ve had some positive discussions with Callum since the end of last season and we appreciate his honesty,” explained Moors boss Graeme Lee.
“Obviously, we are disappointed to lose him because he’s been an asset to us over the last couple of years, but we totally understand his circumstances.
“It’s often difficult in part-time football to juggle your other responsibilities so we’re glad he was so open about the situation, and he leaves with our very best wishes.
“We have agreed that Callum will remain on non-contract terms with us for 2025/26 so there could be occasions when he’s back in a black and white shirt during the season.”
