Moors Ladies Complete Meg Elliott Signing

Moors Ladies have pulled off a real transfer coup by completing the signing of experienced defender Meg Elliott following her departure from Durham Cestria.

The arrival of Elliott at The Brewery Field is a real statement from new boss Stephen Durrant as he looks to enhance his squad ahead of the new NERWFL Premier Division campaign.

The talented centre-back has earned a big reputation in local football after a successful 16-year stint with Cestria during which she’s gained vast experience at a higher level.

Elliott, who will link-up with her sister Amy at The Brewery Field, will bring crucial knowhow to the Moors backline as they look to build on last season’s creditable sixth place finish.

“We’re thrilled that Meg has agreed to join the Club,” admitted Durrant.

“It’s going to be fantastic to have a player of her ability at our disposal and it’s brilliant that she’s going to get the opportunity to play alongside her sister in 2025/26.

“Meg will bring significant experience and leadership to our defence and the team as a whole and her arrival is an integral part of our plans to strengthen in the key areas ahead of the new season.”

After such a long spell with one club, Elliott has admitted that she feels energised by the chance to take on a fresh challenge and can’t wait to plat at The Brewery Field in 2025/26.

“I’m really excited to get going,” she told us.

“I have been watching Spennymoor Town for a while now and it’s clear that it has all the foundations for a really good women’s club.

“I have no doubt that we’re capable of getting promoted to the next level at some stage and that’s something I really want to be part of, so I am glad I’m here.

“I’ve seen how happy my sister has been getting back into football with Spennymoor and that was another big reason that I wanted to come so hopefully we can be a great combination together.”
