Moors management team Graeme Lee and Ian Clark will join players Matty Dolan, Dan Rowe and Glen Taylor in switching sports this Sunday – all in the name of charity.
They are all taking part in a special cricket match at Peterlee Cricket Club on Sunday 6th July which is aimed at raising funds for The Roy Simpson MBE Foundation.
Lee will captain the side and Clark, Dolan, Rowe and Taylor have all been named in his eleven and fans can go along to Helford Road in Peterlee to see how they get on.
Entry to the event is just £3 for adults and free for under 16s and the action is set to get underway at 2pm when the two sides will compete in 20 over contest.
Lee’s former Hartlepool United teammate Micky Barron will skipper the opposition, with big names from north east football such as Craig Hignett, Tommy Miller, Michael Nelson, Nicky Featherstone, Ryan Donaldson and Dimi Konstantopoulos all involved.
Moors’ kit partners Motif8 have teamed up with Surridge Sports to design and donate two special shirts for the sides to wear during Sunday’s charity encounter.
The Roy Simpson MBE Foundation was set-up earlier this year to honour the memory of Roy, who sadly passed away in September following a battle with dementia.
Roy was the father of current Moors Secretary and Media & Communication Manager, Mark Simpson and the charity is aimed at raising money to enhance the platform for young cricketers across the region – something Roy was truly passionate about.
If you want to go along, then you can pay on the gate by cash or card on Sunday.
