Moors boss Graeme Lee has penned a blog for supporters after the fixtures for the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North campaign were released on Wednesday afternoon.
Well, the fixtures are here again and now it will all start to get real again from this Saturday when we get back into pre-season action.
Fixture Release Day is always a great date during the summer and now we can start to truly plan for what lies ahead and put all the focus on that opening day against Hereford.
Of course, we’re pretty happy to be starting the season on home soil once more – and it would be brilliant if we could replicate the kind of performance and result we did against Chester on the opening day last year!
Click here to take a look at our fixtures for 2025/26.
We’ve got a pretty tough start during that first month and I always think that after the first five games, you get a little picture of where you’re going to be and how the season may pan out.
Certainly, it’s interesting to have a couple of the newly promoted teams in opposition so early in the campaign as they are a bit of an unknown quantity at that stage. Obviously, we know that Macclesfield are heavily backed and they won the title by such a distance last season that you would expect them to be strong so that’s an exciting game for us.
Then you’re scrolling down the fixtures to find the Darlington games and we’ve got a bit of a wait with the first meeting not coming until November at Blackwell Meadows. They’re always great fixtures though and they have that little bit of extra bite so we’ll look forward to hopefully getting a couple of positive results.
The Christmas schedule looks good on the face of it, certainly with a couple of home games to take us out of 2025 and into 2026. Trips to South Shields are always pretty feisty too – and they look like they could be stronger this year too so that will be a test on Boxing Day, but one we’ll relish.
Being at home on the final day also seems to be a habit in recent years and we’ve been able to ensure that there’s been something to play for at this Club on a few occasions and that’s the plan again.
We are hopefully cementing ourselves as a team that is competitive in the top half of the division and that’s where we want to be again this year so hopefully by the time we welcome Marine, we’ll have achieved something already or still be in the frame to do so.
And then we can plan for Wembley again after that game…. Haha!
It’s all very exciting now, though. The lads have been working very hard in training and now we can step things up with the first friendly at Crook Town on Saturday.
We’ve got a good squad but we’re still seeking to add a few more players in the coming weeks so that will add to the excitement as we build up and prepare for the Hereford game. We’ll be ready to go by then.
Thanks for all your ongoing support and see you soon.
Graeme.
