Academy Sides Prepare For Big Kick-Off

Moors’ Academy sides will kick-off their new campaigns this week as the National Football Youth League action returns for 2025/26.

The Club now has two teams operating in the league, the original based at New College Durham and a second now playing out of Bede College for the first time this term.

Matty Dolan remains in charge of the New College Durham Academy side and they will begin their campaign with a home game against Whitby Town at the College on Wednesday (1.30pm kick-off).

Meanwhile, Ben Beals’ Bede College Academy outfit are also on home soil at the College when they host UFCA on Wednesday (1.30pm kick-off).

Gav Codgon is thrilled to see Moors’ Academy operation continuing to prosper and says he can’t wait to see the youngsters in action throughout 2025/26.

“I’m so excited to get started and see the boys back this year,” Cogdon told us.

“With Matty leading on the New College Programme and Ben Beals heading up Bede, I think we’re in a superb place to continue their development.

“For some of the lads, this season will bring new challenges — particularly in game situations they may not have faced before.

“However, they’re in excellent hands with the coaching team, and we’re confident this year will be another step forward in their football journey.

“Both leagues are shaping up to be really exciting this season, and we can’t wait to see how the boys rise to the challenge.”
