It was three of the best for Moors on the road as they took home the spoils after a commanding 3-0 victory at Bedford Town.
Junior Mondal opened the scoring as he tapped home from close range, before doubling the lead with a well-placed finish 18 minutes later. Glen Taylor rounded off the afternoon’s scoring just after the break with his low finish into the net.
Moors almost found themselves in front after just three minutes, as Mondal played a ball to the impressive Tom Pugh in the area. His shot, however, was dragged just wide of the mark as a flowing move lacked only in a finish.
Tylor could have fired Lee’s side in front but hit the side netting, before Shaun Jeffers headed over the bar at the other end.
Pugh won a free-kick on the edge of the area which Mackenzie Heaney struck well, only to see his strike fall just wide of the right post.
With 18 minutes on the clock, Moors found themselves ahead. A lovely, chipped pass from Rob Ramshaw found Taylor on the edge of the six-yard box, who chested the ball down before firing on goal. His shot was just about kept out by keeper Caleb Ansen, only for it to fall to Mondal, who made no mistake and tapped home from close range.
The hosts looked to hit back immediately through Ellis Brown, but his low strike from an awkward angle was routinely claimed by Brad James.
Graeme Lee’s side saw some half chances in quick succession, first through Taylor who had his strike deflected over the bar, before Ramshaw’s 25-yard effort was held by Ansen.
Mondal made it two with just nine minutes of the first half remaining. The winger took advantage of some hesitation in the Bedford defence to nick the ball, charged down on goal before slotting home a smart finish low into the bottom right corner of the net.
The Eagles had a couple of chances before the break, but neither Tyrone Marsh nor Shaun Jeffers could hit the target.
Despite an early chance for Bedford at the start of the second half, it was Moors who found the net to kill the game. Heaney’s long ball found Ramshaw at the back post, who cut it back across goal on the volley, where Taylor prodded home his seventh of the season.
Matty Dolan looked to add a fourth with his outside of the foot strike, but Ansen was on hand to claim the ball.
Substitute, Eddie Panter, got the hosts’ best chance of the game on the 63rd minute, as he got away down the left, before cutting onto his right and curling a shot just wide of the top corner.
Mondal and Taylor each had chances to add to their tally. Mondal had his strike deflected wide for a corner, only for Taylor to fire wide just minutes later.
A smartly taken free-kick with 13 minutes to go posed a threat for the hosts, as Ramshaw got himself in behind, only for the midfielder to fire over the bar from a tight angle.
Katia Kouyate did well after coming on to find Olly Dyson, who drove in to the area and had his low strike deflected across the face of goal and out for a corner.
Barrow loan star Kouyate was involved again as he forced a corner out of the hosts with a well worked move in added time.
A strong, away victory for Moors as Graeme Lee’s side march home with all three points. Focus now shifts back onto the FA Cup, as Chadderton visit The Brewery Field next Saturday.
