Moors Ladies Ready For County Cup Encounter

There’s another big game for Moors Ladies on Sunday as they travel to take on Durham Cestria in the quarter-finals of the County Cup at King James I Academy (1.30pm kick-off).

Since a heavy defeat at title favourites Bradford City last month, Nikita Hemmingway’s side have hit strong form and have won their last three games in all competitions.

Progress in the League Cup and six points in the NERWFL Premier Division have raised spirits in the camp and there is confidence as they approach Sunday’s County Cup tie.

However, boss Hemmingway knows they have a big challenge ahead as they lock horns with a team who play their football in the National League.

“We know we will have to be at our best,” she told us.

“The girls have been brilliant in the last few weeks, so we just need to make sure we carry on that standard, and we’ll give ourselves a chance.

“We want to do well in all the competitions we can this year. We’ve made good progress in the League Cup, and we’d love to do the same in the County Cup this weekend.”

The game is being played at the King James I Academy in Bishop Auckland where admission will be £5 for adults and £1 for kids. Kick-off is at the slightly earlier time of 1.30pm.
