Moors Launch Christmas Foodbank Appeal

Moors in the Community are proud to announce the launch of its annual Christmas Foodbank Appeal in partnership with County Durham Foodbank and Trinity Methodist Church.

This brilliant initiative aims to support individuals and families within the local community who need it most during the upcoming festive season.

The appeal, which is active now and will run until Wednesday 17th December, invites supporters and residents to donate essential food items to help ensure that nobody in Spennymoor goes without this Christmas.

One in five people in the UK are living below the poverty line and the Foodbank aims to support those people in crisis with emergency food.

“Last year’s appeal was a massive success, and we’d love to take in even more donations this time around,” said Moors’ Managing Director, Ian Geldard.

“We’re proud to have worked closely with Trinity last year, not only at Christmas, and we’re hopeful that our fans can support our efforts again this year.

“This is a crucial scheme for so many people in our town, especially at this time of the year, and we want everyone to come together to show our community spirit.”

All donations collected will be delivered to Trinity Methodist Church Foodbank in Spennymoor, where they will be distributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity during the festive period.

Donations can be dropped off at The Brewery Field on each home matchday, and we’ll also take donations at Main Reception between 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the appeal window.

Some of the main items needed are:

  • Tins (e.g., soup, beans, vegetables, etc.)
  • Tea and coffee
  • Rice pudding and custard
  • Biscuits
  • Pasta and rice
  • Long-life fruit juice
  • Instant meals
  • Pasta sauce
  • Cereal

This year’s Christmas Foodbank Appeal is once again sponsored by UK Energy Management, emphasizing the power of collaboration in supporting our community.

Spennymoor Town’s Moors in the Community programme is dedicated to bringing people together and making a positive impact on local lives.
