Moors Ladies Set For Shields Double Header

Moors Ladies face the first leg of a double header against South Shields on Sunday as they travel to take on their rivals in the NERWFL Premier Division (2pm kick-off).

Nikita Hemmingway’s side have also been paired against The Mariners in the League Cup and will also make the same trip in that competition in a fortnight’s time.

However, for now the focus is entirely on the search for league points and it promises to be a typically exciting encounter between the two clubs this weekend.

Moors currently sit second in the table and will be hoping to grab a win to close the gap on leaders Bradford City who remain four points clear at the top.

Shields have only played four games in the league so far in 2025/26 so come into Sunday’s game sitting eighth in the table and keen to play catch up.

“We’ve had some great games against South Shields over the last few seasons,” said Hemmingway.

“They’re a good side and meetings between the two teams have always been really competitive, so we’ll need to be on our game if we want the result.

“Shields will be keen to get some points on the board, particularly at home, but we’ve had an excellent season so far and we have to go there with confidence and belief.”

The game kicks-off at 2pm at Harton & Westoe Miner’s Welfare and admission to supporters is free.
