Moors Ladies return to action on Sunday when they make the trip to face rivals South Shields in the League Cup at Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare (2pm kick-off).
Nikita Hemmingway’s side will make the trip fully rested after a weekend off and in good spirits having already defeated Shields twice so far this season.
Moors thrashed The Mariners 7-1 at The Brewery Field in September and completed a NERWFL Premier Division double when they came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Shields a fortnight ago.
However, Hemmingway has insisted that those games will count for nothing this weekend and has warned her players they will need to be at their best again.
“South Shields will be unhappy with the last couple of games against us and that makes them dangerous opponents,” Hemmingway told us.
“They have a lot of good players in their squad and we know they will be absolutely determined to get one over on us this Sunday.
“However, we’re playing with real confidence at the moment on the back of some excellent results, we’re second in the table and we want to keep building momentum.”
Kick-off on Sunday is 2pm and entry at Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare is free for supporters if you want to go along and cheer the lasses on.
