Ladies Thumped In Cup By South Shields

Moors Ladies were knocked out of the League Cup on Sunday as they were beaten 4-0 by South Shields at Leisure United in Sunderland.

Nikita Hemmingway’s side made the trip in good spirits having done the double over their local rivals in the NERWFL Premier Division this season.

However, things quickly unravelled for Moors and they fell behind inside 15 minutes when the home team converted from a corner.

Conditions were making things difficult for both sides but it was Shields who adapted the better and they doubled their lead on 22 minutes when they forced the ball home after a scramble on the line.

It was 3-0 by the break as The Mariners underlined their dominance with a further goal, leaving Moors with a mountain to climb in the second half.

However, there was no way back for Hemmingway’s side and Shields made sure of their triumph at the death when they added a fourth.

Full Time: South Shields 4 Moors 0
