There was a fantastic day at Whitworth Park Academy on Monday as local youngsters took part in the Children’s National League Tournament.

Teams from four schools across Spennymoor took part in the competition, with the winning girls and boys teams chosen to represent Moors in the National Finals.

After an enjoyable and competitive day of action on the pitch, it was Springmoor Grange girls and North Park boys that emerged victorious.

“It was a brilliant day, and I think all the kids really enjoyed it,” said Moors’ Community Sport Development Officer, Hannah Marshall.

“All of the teams did themselves proud and the majority of the games were really competitive and very tight in scoreline.

“We were pleased to have Springmoor Grange and Rosa Street represented too but huge congratulations to the winners, Springmoor Grange and North Park.

“It should be really exciting for them to go to the National Finals to represent Spennymoor Town and we’ll look forward to following their progress,” she added.
