Local youngsters had a great time when they came along for Moors in the Community’s first Sports Day event at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre on Friday.
The event proved hugely popular with children in the town and those that joined us enjoyed a range of sporting games and activities.
Having been split into two teams, the kids took on a number of different challenges, including football, dodgeball and even trolleyball – a game entirely made up on the day!
There was also a football quiz laid on to keep children entertained during their lunch break and they certainly impressed staff with their knowledge of the beautiful game.
After a flags quiz and a quick game of Spiderman Tag, youngsters then rounded off the day with a massive football tournament – which incredibly saw all of the teams end on level points!
“It was such a fantastic day and every child that came long left with a big smile on their face,” said the Club’s Community Sport Development Officer, Hannah Marshall.
“I would say that the kids that came along were up there with the very best we’ve had at any of our events in terms of sportsmanship and behaviour which was brilliant to see.
“They all played their part in a number of different games, which were competitive but played with a really good spirit and they all had so much fun.
“We’ll definitely be looking to do more events like this one in the future and hopefully even more children can come along and enjoy them with us.”
