A late equaliser from loanee Kian Foreman rescued a point for Moors against Alfreton Town at The Brewery Field.
The visitors had opened the scoring through Kieron Freeman, who found the net directly from a corner, before Foreman levelled the scores late on with a downward header at the back post.
Alfreton could’ve taken the lead less than a minute into the game. However, Bayley McCann’s low ball across the face of goal couldn’t be prodded home by a teammate.
Moors saw chances go begging around the 10th minute, when both Cam Salkeld and Rob Ramshaw saw efforts fail to find the net.
A shortly taken corner by Matty Dolan found Mackenzie Heaney on the right of the penalty area, before he then laid the ball off to Salkeld. The number 36 relayed it back to Dolan, who whipped the ball into the area, finding Dan Jones, who couldn’t get his header on target.
It was Alfreton who went on to take the lead though, through experienced defender Kieron Freeman. The visiting right back whipped a corner into the penalty area which looped over the head of Brad James in the Moors goal and went all the way through into the back of the net.
The game seemed to calm down following the opener, as neither side managed to carve out any notable chances, with Adam Lund’s 33rd minute header the only real attempt on goal.
Junior Mondal looked to get himself involved when he struck a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area, but saw his strike blocked by an Alfreton man.
Moors had a chance to draw themselves level in the second minute of added time at the end of the first half, but Ramshaw’s downward header was deflected wide of the mark.
Jake Buxton’s side created the first real chance of the second 45 when they won a free-kick 25-yards from goal. McCann stepped up to fire the free-kick towards the top left corner, only to see his strike fly just wide of the upright.
Both sides saw some half chances go amiss, first for Heaney as his ball forward to Ramshaw went all the way through for a goal-kick, before Billy Fewster’s long range effort cleared the stand behind the goal.
Corey McKeown looked to grab his third goal in two games when he curled an effort from the edge of the area. His strike, however, dipped wide of the far post.
Both Olly Dyson and Cam Salkeld managed to deliver balls into the area towards their teammate, but neither could find the net. Dyson’s ball to Taylor was headed wide by the frontman, before Salkeld’s low cross was claimed at the front post by Charlie Casper as Moors’ frustrations grew.
Alfreton thought they’d doubled their lead when Lewis Salmon found the bottom left corner in the 81st minute, but the offside flag had already been raised.
Tommy Miller and Matty Dolan’s men pulled themselves level with four minutes of normal time to play, when newly signed Foreman produced a towering header at the back post. A delightful ball from the left, courtesy of Dyson, found Foreman, who nodded a downward header past Casper and into the back of the net to mark his first goal in Moors colours.
Moors went close to completing the turnaround with 89 minutes on the clock, only for Glen Taylor to drag his low driven effort wide of the left post. Luckily for the number 9, the flag had already been raised.
Though seven minutes of added time had been given, neither side could find the goal to steal all three points, as the game ended all square at The Brewery Field
