The Club is delighted to announce that legendary front man Glen Taylor has agreed terms on a new two-year deal to extend his extraordinary time at The Brewery Field.
Taylor’s fresh contract means that Moors fans will be able to continue watching one of the greatest players in the Club’s history leading the line during the next two seasons.
Since his return for a second spell with Moors in 2015, Taylor has broken all scoring records to become the Club’s all-time leading marksman with an astonishing 233 goals in 441 appearances.
Taylor is also National League North’s all-time top scorer, and he passed 20 goals in the competition again last season as he landed the Club’s prestigious Players’ Player of the Year award.
Now 36, the iconic striker has been at the heart of so many memorable moments in a Moors shirt including promotion to National League North in 2016/17 and the incredible run to the FA Trophy Final at Wembley in 2024/25.
“It was vital that kept Glen because of what he has done – and continues doing – for this Football Club,” said boss Tommy Miller.
“He is obviously getting on in age now, but I don’t think there is much doubt that there is still nobody better than him in the league.
“He offers a real physical presence for us up there and his goalscoring record over the years is just phenomenal really.
“Glen has had opportunities to go elsewhere during his time here, but he’s stayed loyal to Spennymoor, and the Club has stayed loyal to him too.
“Agreeing the two-year deal is massive for us and for Glen, and it shows the faith we have in him to continue doing the business, so we’re absolutely delighted he’s staying.”
