Corey McKeown Leaves Spennymoor Town

We can confirm that Corey McKeown has now left the Club and agreed terms on a move to Hartlepool United.

The winger joined Moors from Blyth Spartans back in November 2022, and since then he has gone on to score 16 goals and make 166 appearances in all competitions.

McKeown’s performances last term, particularly during the closing months of the campaign, earned him silverware as the Fans’ Player of the Year for 2025/26.

The Club entered into negotiations in a bid to extend McKeown’s stay at The Brewery Field, but he has now opted to take up an opportunity to step up to the National League with Pools.

“I spoke with Corey a number of times towards the end of the season and in the early part of the summer,” explained Moors boss, Tommy Miller.

“He’s a player who really came into his own at the back end of last season when his performances were at a very high standard.

“As you’d expect, he was keeping his options open and was honest with me in that if a full-time club from a higher division came in for him that he would like to explore that opportunity.

“We wish Corey all the best for the next stage of his career. He’s moving on to a Club I know well to work under a Manager I know well, so hopefully he pushes on and keeps progressing.”

McKeown could be in line for a quick return to The Brewery Field next month when Moors play host to Lee Clark’s side in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 18th July.
