Experienced front man Richie Bennett has become Moors fifth signing of the summer after he agreed a deal to join the Club for the 2026/27 campaign.
The 35-year-old centre-forward has most recently been on the books with Scarborough Athletic but will officially join Moors when his contract with The Seadogs expires in July.
Bennett made his name in non-league, starring for Curzon Ashton, Mossley and Northwich Victoria before earning a move to Barrow in 2016.
His performances for The Bluebirds saw him make the switch to Cumbrian rivals Carlisle United the following year and he spent two seasons at Brunton Park before moving on to Port vale and then Stockport County.
A hugely successful loan stint at Hartlepool United, during which he scored five goals in four games, was followed by a permanent switch to Sutton United in 2021, though he returned north the following summer to rejoin Barrow.
In 2023 a loan move to Scunthorpe United was turned permanent and Bennett built further on his National League North experience with a two-year stint at Scarborough where he made over 80 appearances.
“Richie will bring plenty of quality and knowhow to our attack,” said Moors boss Tommy Miller.
“He knows this level extremely well and will give us a different kind of dimension up front, so when he became available, we were always keen to make a deal happen.
“We’ve got a really good blend of attacking options in the squad now which will definitely be important as we go through a long season.”
Bennett will join Moors at the beginning of July once his contract with Scarborough expires and the move is subject to the usual Football Association and National League clearance.
