Moors have added vast experience to their midfield ahead of the new campaign with the signing of George Cantrill following his departure from Alfreton Town.
The tough-tackling midfield star was popular with Town fans and made just short of 200 appearances for The Reds during a four-year stay at The Impact Arena.
However, it was announced that he was to leave the club following their relegation from National League North and Moors boss Tommy Miller was quick to make his move.
Cantrill originally came through the ranks at Sheffield United before he was released in 2019 to join Guiseley prior to his switch to Alfreton in the summer of 2022.
The 26-year-old becomes Moors’ sixth signing of the close season following the arrivals of Richie Bennett, Jack Jenkins, Aiden Marsh, Louis Stephenson and Frankie Whelan.
“We’re delighted to bring a player with George’s experience to the Club,” said Miller.
“He’s got a huge competitive streak and will add some real bite to our midfield so I’m sure our lads will be pleased he’s on our side rather than the opposition now.
“We’ve been keen to add that kind of player to the squad and George is someone who knows this level inside out so we’re really happy to have got the deal done.”
Cantrill will take up the number 4 shirt during his debut season at The Brewery Field.
