Young Moors Defeated In FA Youth Cup

Moors’ 1st Qualifying Round clash against Workington in the FA Youth Cup ended in defeat on Monday evening.

Matty Dolan and Graham Gellalty’s side travelled to the Fibrus Community Stadium to face The Reds for the second time in as many years in the competition.

Moors went into the break with a 0-1 lead thanks to a first half penalty from attacker, Cole Raine. However, a duo of second half strikes from the home side, including an injury time winner, condemned Moors to defeat.

Matty Dolan, had this to say following the full time whistle:

“The lads were excellent tonight. They left it all out on the pitch and gave it their all.”

“Obviously we’re all disappointed with the result but I can’t fault the lads tonight, we we’re just unlucky to lose. Fair play to Workington and best of luck to them in the next round.”

“We played some great football but we just couldn’t get it over the line. I’m proud of their performance today.”

Full time: Workington 2 Moors 1

Moors: Smith, Hickman, Zavoda, Pos, Connor, Knox, Cofinos, Allen, Raine, Knight, Mundell

Subs: Nelson, Hunter, Robson
