Moors Ladies will look to build on last weekend’s brilliant 3-0 win over Wallsend when they play host to Gateshead in the County Cup at The Brewery Field this Sunday (1.30pm kick-off).
Billy Shackleton’s side were back somewhere near to their best against Wallsend and will be aiming to perform again in front of what is hoped will be a big crowd on Sunday.
It’s the first time this season that the Ladies have played in the Club’s main stadium, and they will be itching to set the record straight against Gateshead after tasting defeat at the hands of the Tyneside outfit in the NERWFL just a fortnight ago.
However, the fixture will provide a tough assignment with Gateshead arriving at The Brewery Field this Sunday looking to improve on a run of three successive victories.
“They’re a very good side,” admitted Shackleton.
“We weren’t good enough the last time we played them but we’ve got a fantastic opportunity to put that right on Sunday and we’re determined to put in a positive performance.”
Shackleton is boosted by the return of Megan Foster who proved her fitness with a ten-minute appearance from the bench in the win over Wallsend after shrugging off an ankle problem.
Chloe Wymer could also move into contention for her first appearance of the season after she was declared fit following a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury. Monika Kisicka and Julia McGovern both remain unavailable.
“We’re all really looking forward to the occasion,” added Shackleton.
“We know the fans will be out in force and we need to use that support to help us put in the right kind of display and make progress in this cup competition.”
Tickets for the game are available direct on the turnstiles at just £3, while Under-12s can come along for free. Fans can pay by cash or card when entering the stadium.
The Neil Adams Sports Bar will be open before and after the game for fans who want to enjoy a drink, while we’ll also be showing the live Premier League football on our screens.
