Moors have added some extra creativity to their squad after paying Blyth Spartans an undisclosed fee for attacking midfielder Corey McKeown.
The exciting 20-year-old has been on Jason Ainsley’s target list for a while and the Club has now managed to push through a deal to bring the highly rated youngster to The Brewery Field.
McKeown has been with Spartans since he was 17 and was last year’s Young Player of the Year at Croft Park after producing a number of eye-catching performances.
Capable of playing on the wing or in a more central role behind the attack, McKeown is renowned for his positivity in possession and ability to engineer scoring opportunities for his teammates.
“We have been chasing Corey for a while,” revealed Moors boss Ainsley.
“We put a couple of bids in which fell short, but they have accepted our third bid which is brilliant for us because he’s a young lad who is only going to get better.
“During my time here, we’ve always had good attacking players in wide areas who like to get at the opposition and run with the ball, and Corey certainly fits that bill.”
Subject to approval, McKeown will now hope to go into contention for a Moors debut when we make the trip to Brackley Town next weekend.
