Jason Ainsley has completed a fifth January deal after Connor Shanks put pen to paper on a permanent deal at The Brewery Field following his release from Huddersfield Town.

The 20-year-old attacking star, who can operate from either flank, left The Terriers earlier this week and Ainsley moved quickly to add the talented youngster to his squad.

Halifax-born Shanks came through the ranks at Huddersfield before leaving to join Bradford City’s Academy in 2017, turning professional with The Bantams in the summer of 2020.

He made his senior debut in Bradford’s EFL Trophy tie against Doncaster Rovers in September 2020 before making a return to Huddersfield the following year after his City contract expired.

Shanks gained further First Team experience during loan spells at Nuneaton Borough and Boston United last term and will now embark on the next stage of his career with Moors.

“As soon as we were made aware from Huddersfield that Connor was being made available, we spoke to him about coming to the Club,” explained Moors boss Ainsley.

“We’ve already seen the quality he possesses when he’s played for Huddersfield’s B Team and whilst he was out on loan at Nuneaton.

“He’s at a really good age and has all the attributes to do well for us.

“With the injury to Tom Allan, we felt we were short in the wide areas and feel that Connor can come in and complement the group we already have.”

Shanks has been handed squad number 31 and will now go into contention to make his debut when Moors travel to Darlington in National League North next weekend.
