We turn our attentions to Moors’ penultimate home game of the season as Kettering Town make the National League North trip to The Brewery Field.
Spennymoor Town v Kettering Town
Saturday 15th April 2023, 3pm
National League North
The Brewery Field
In Opposition
Kettering Town collected a potentially crucial three points on Easter Monday when they overcame struggling Leamington 3-0 at Latimer Park to put some distance between themselves and the bottom four.
The Poppies had been sucked into a little bit of trouble near the base of the table on the back of a run of eight games without a win so their triumph over The Brakes was a very welcome one.
Lee Glover’s men now have a four-point cushion on the drop zone ahead of their trip to County Durham but they will know that the work is far from over to ensure they preserve their National League North status into 2023/24.
One To Watch
Jimmy Knowles has helped himself to two goals since joining Kettering Town on loan from Mansfield Town in February, including one from the penalty spot in Monday’s big win over Leamington.
A graduate of The Stags’ Academy, Knowles signed professional terms with the club in 2019 before making his senior debut at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
After scoring six goals in 11 appearances during a loan stint at Notts County previously, Knowles will be hoping to do his bit to help fire The Poppies clear of relegation trouble in the coming weeks.
Head To Head
This weekend’s game will be the sixth competitive meeting between the two clubs and Moors have edged it historically having won three of the previous five contests.
Indeed, Moors did the National League North double over The Poppies last season – however, Kettering did run out winners when the sides met at Latimer Park back in October.
On The Whistle
The man in the middle for Saturday’s encounter with The Poppies will be Paul Cooper, and he will be assisted by Keiran Downey and Givi Todua.
