The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Geldard as Managing Director, as part of a relaunch of the Club Board.
Brad Groves will remain as the Club’s Chairman and owner but will no longer operate as Chief Executive and will take a step back from the day-to-day running of the Football Club.
Having spent the previous year as Club General Manager, Geldard will step up to take on the role of Managing Director, overseeing all Club matters and reporting in directly to the Chairman going forward.
After years of dedicated service to the Club, Debra Swinburn continues as Non-Executive Director, and is joined by two new non-executive appointments in Tony Wilson and Bobby Taylor.
Tony Wilson is well known to the Club having previously served as Managing Director in the latter part of over ten years’ service to Spennymoor Town.
Bobby Taylor, a lifelong Spennymoor Town supporter and owner of Cheshire-based Taylored Management Consultants (TMC), is set to expand the reach of Spennymoor Town geographically, as he and Tony look to maximise the potential of the Club.
Chairman Brad Groves said: “I am delighted to appoint Ian to the role of Managing Director and to welcome Tony and Bobby to the new-look Club Board alongside Debra Swinburn.
“As we look towards the upcoming campaign in the National League North for 2023/24, I am confident that this top team has what it takes to ensure the ongoing success and stability of the Club.
“Key to this success will be a renewed focus on sustainability, commercial and governance – areas in which I am sure Ian, supported by Debra, Tony and Bobby will be able to achieve great things.”
Managing Director Ian Geldard added: “This is an exciting opportunity to build on the recent success of the Club on and off the field,
“I am particularly enthused by the work we’re doing in terms of our community impact, through our youth model, thriving local Business Club, and our growing Moors in the Community programmes.
“We have built a great team at Spennymoor Town; they are the driving force behind these developments, and it’s a great time to be involved with the Club.”
“Following our recent announcement of the footballing restructure, we will be providing fans with some exciting updates soon, including new sponsors, player signings, and an update on the 4G project at Whitworth which will see our youth set-up return to the town.”
