Spennymoor Town can confirm that Jamie Chandler has resigned from his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Jamie informed the Club on Thursday morning that he had found the task of juggling the Manager’s role alongside his family life and full-time job more difficult than he had anticipated.
Following subsequent discussions, it became clear that no solution to these issues could be found, therefore the Club has now reluctantly taken the decision to accept Jamie’s resignation.
Lewis Dickman has agreed to take over as Interim Manager, while the Club reviews the situation and begins a recruitment process to appoint the next Manager as soon as possible.
“Jamie will leave the Club with his head held high for everything he has achieved with Spennymoor Town as player, coach and Manager,” said Managing Director, Ian Geldard.
“His hard work, dedication and professionalism have helped guide us to one of the strongest and most encouraging starts in the Club’s history and now we must do that justice by ensuring our next appointment builds on that solid platform.
“I know that I speak on behalf of everyone at the Club when I wish him and his family every happiness in the future, especially as he and his partner prepare to welcome their second son.”
Jamie Chandler added: “I would like to thank the Club for giving me eight of the best years of my life and providing me with the opportunity and the privilege to be Manager.
“There’s no doubt I have made some friends for life in the dressing room at Spennymoor over the years and I would like to thank the players for the efforts they have put in during the past couple of months.
“I have no doubt that this group of players can build on the good work done so far and go on to have a really exciting season – and I will certainly be one of their biggest supporters.
“I also want to thank the Moors fans because you’ve made me feel welcome from the first day I walked through the door and have continuously supported me and the team.
“This has been a difficult decision for me, but when the dust settles, I would love to get back down to The Brewery Field and cheer the lads on because this Club is in my blood, and I wish you all nothing but success.”
