Moors Ladies have further strengthened their squad in readiness for the 2024/25 campaign with the signing of talented attacker Aimee Steele.
Steele becomes the eighth new arrival at The Brewery Field this summer and brings a good amount of experience both in the UK and in America.
Comfortable anywhere along the attacking line, Steele links-up with Moors after a two-year spell playing in the USA with Murray State College in Alabama.
Steele’s talent was clear from an early age, and she represented her district and county at youth level before joining Sunderland Foundation of Light.
“I am really happy to be joining the Club,” she told us.
“I like the style of football that Spennymoor play, and I think this will fit well with my own game and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come here.
“I can see myself developing well here because the Club has a lot of very good players, so I am looking forward to challenging myself and improving as a player throughout the season.”
Moors Ladies boss Billy Shackleton has been busy reshaping the squad after last season’s impressive runners-up finish during their debut season in the NERWRL Premier Division.
The new campaign kicks-off at the beginning of September and he’s happy with the recruitment that has been done following Steele’s arrival.
“She’s an excellent player who has real quality and the type of approach which gets fans off their seats,” Shackleton explained.
“She is very direct, wants to score and assist and she’s already begun gelling really well with the rest of the squad during training this pre-season. I think she can become a real asset for us.
“She’s had good experience playing in America with lots of different players, but she fits into our system perfectly and is the sort of player we want to bring to the Club.”
