Preview: Leamington v Moors

We turn our attentions to the weekend action with an in-depth preview of Saturday’s National League North trip to Your Co-op Community Stadium.

Leamington v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 17th August 2024, 3pm
Your Co-op Community Stadium

The Opposition
Leamington made sure their stay outside of National League North was a brief one by securing promotion last term via a glorious Play-Off Final win over AFC Telford United.

Vastly experienced boss Paul Holleran has been in charge of The Brakes since 2009, and last term’s success was the third time he had guided them to promotion from that level.

Having finished third in the Southern Premier Division Central table, Leamington clinched their immediate return thanks to Ewan Williams’ 73rd minute strike in the Final.

They suffered heartbreak on the opening day when they looked on course to take a creditable point away at Buxton before the home side scored in the last minute to win 2-1.

Previous Meeting
Moors did the double over Leamington when they were last in National League North back in 2022/23, thanks to a pair of 1-0 victories.

Jude Oyibo scored the brilliant winner in our 1-0 triumph at Leamington in August 2022 before Jake Day’s second half strike proved enough in the return fixture at The Brewery Field the following March.

Match Officials
Harry Warner will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s game at Leamington, and he will be assisted by Lewis Smith and Thomas Durno. Ryan Price is Fourth Official.
