Moors Ladies play their first home game of the new NERWFL Premier Division campaign on Sunday when they welcome Hull United to The Brewery Field (2pm kick-off).
After a disappointing opening day defeat at South Shields last weekend, Brent Smithson’s side will be keen to offer a positive response back on their own patch.
Moors completed a double over Hull last term, including an astonishing encounter at The Brewery Field a year ago when Alice Welch-Davision scored twice injury time as they came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 in remarkable fashion.
“I am really looking forward to my first home game in charge at The Brewery Field,” commented Smithson.
“It’s always brilliant to play in front of our amazing fans and it gives our players such a lift, so I would love to see as many people as possible there on Sunday as we look to bounced back from our defeat last week.
“We have to show respect to Hull as they pushed us all the way the last time that we played them at home, but the players have trained well this week, and we’ve talked about what we need to do to improve.”
The Moors boss has some selection issues to deal with ahead of Sunday’s game with skipper Alex Saunders, Katy Hemmingway and Amy Richardson all set to miss out. Coral Colledge is still completing her recovery from injury and won’t be involved either.
However, there is brighter news for Moors with exciting new signing Jess Dawson hoping to shrug off an ankle injury in time to feature this weekend, while young attacker Lily Jackson will also return to the squad after missing the trip to South Shields.
Tickets for Sunday’s game are priced at just £3 for adults and it’s free for all those under 12. Fans can buy in advance or simply pay by cash or card on the turnstiles on Sunday.
Fans who have bought Season Tickets for Moors Ladies and are yet to collect them can do so at Saturday’s Men’s Team game or from the turnstiles prior to kick-off on Sunday.
