Moors in the Community continued to reach people of all ages throughout October as their portfolio of important projects gathered further pace.
Founded in the summer of 2022, Moors in the Community has worked with community groups and local organisations to provide vital opportunities and services for residents of the town and surrounding areas.
Thanks to the incredible backing of principal partners, UK Energy Management, who are the main sponsors of Moors in the Community, we’ve been able to improve and expand the delivery of our projects.
Our Community Meals scheme is once again thriving, and we now deliver hot and nutritious food to a growing number of local people need it most three days a week.
October also saw us put on another round of our hugely popular Holiday Camps over the Autumn Half Term, as record numbers of youngsters came along to enjoy a variety of games and sports at Spennymoor Town Youth & Community Centre.
Over 65 kids came along to participate in the Holiday Camps over two days at the end of the month, with plenty going away with prizes and awards as well.
We also laid on a brilliant Halloween Party for local youngsters at The Brewery Field, which included a variety of spooky games and a whole load of great music to dance to!
Moors in the Community run a regular Friday Night Football sessions at Whitworth Park Academy, with fantastic numbers and plenty of good football on show from youngsters aged from 7 to 18.
As well as that, our Disability Football sessions which are held every Thursday are also seeing more players get involved – but we still have room for more if know someone who could benefit.
We also have links with several local schools across the area to deliver sport sessions at lunch time and after lessons, while we host Youth Clubs every Monday afternoon in Spennymoor (3.30pm – 5.30pm) and Tudhoe (5pm – 6.30pm).
None of these projects would be as successful without the support of UK Energy Management as well as those who work and volunteer for Moors in the Community and we once again extend our sincere thanks to them all.
