Moors Ladies will go in search of some revenge over Chester-le-Street Town on Sunday as they host them at The Brewery Field for a second successive weekend (1.30pm kick-off).
Brent Smithson’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat to The Cestrians last Sunday as the visitors underlined some of the reasons why they’re currently sitting top of the NERWFL Premier Division table.
However, this weekend’s contest is all about the Durham County Cup as the sides face-off at The Brewery Field for a place in the Fourth Round of the competition.
Moors are battling against a growing injury list as they approach the cup tie, and boss Smithson looks likely to be without several key players for the game.
Autumn Colledge (knee), Jess Dawson (calf), Lucy McIntosh (ankle) and Brooke Newton (groin) are unlikely to feature, while Alex Saunders and Lily Jackson are both unavailable for selection.
“There are always ups and downs across a season but at this point in time we can’t catch a break on the injury front,” admitted Smithson.
“We seem to be picking up injuries to multiple players all at once, which is obviously not ideal for preparations.
“However, we have a good squad here now and the situation we have will mean that other players get their opportunity on Sunday to show why they should be in the starting eleven.
“Adversity builds character and resilience, and I know the players won’t shy away from what we know will be a tough challenge against Chester-le-Street Town.”
The County Cup tie kicks-off at the slightly earlier time of 1.30pm on Sunday and Ladies Team Season Ticket holders are reminded that this tie is not part of their package.
Admission is just £3 for adults and completely free for all those under 12.
