Moors Ladies face another big challenge this Sunday when they make the trip to face high-flying Chester-le-Street Town at Moor Park (2pm kick-off).
Brent Smithson’s side will approach the fixture on a high following their impressive 3-1 win over Alnwick Town at The Brewery Field last weekend.
The victory was a timely boost for a Moors squad which has undergone much change in recent weeks as they celebrated a first three points of 2025.
However, the challenge will be a different one on Sunday when they look for revenge over a Chester-le-Street side that have already beaten Moors twice this term.
“Chester-le-Street are a good side and are only in second place because Ponteland have played more games than them,” said Smithson.
“We’ve played them twice already and been on the wrong end of the result, but we’ve played well in patches of both games and need to be more consistent with our performance over the 90 minutes on Sunday.
“They are really good at capitalising on the key moments, and we need to make sure we compete with them on that front.
“They lost for the first time in the league last week so I would expect a reaction from them but we’re feeling really confident and will go into this one on a high after that brilliant win over Alnwick.”
Smithson will be without Jess Dawson after the influential attacker was ruled out for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign with a long-term injury problem.
Alex Saunders is also missing on Sunday, while injury keeps Lucy McIntosh and Katy Hemmingway out of the trip to Moor Park.
Fans are welcome to head along and cheer Moors on this Sunday. Kick-off is 2pm.
