Moors were forced to settle for a point at The Brewery Field as Scarborough Athletic levelled on 89 minutes to ensure a fourth consecutive 1-1 draw between the sides.
There was an air of inevitability about the game finishing all-square, given that six of the last seven have seen the points shared – but the visitors’ late equaliser was still a bitter pill to swallow.
Graeme Lee was once again able to call upon Number 1 Brad James who returned to the goal after a few weeks out injured, while Finley Shrimpton was back in the Moors midfield.
There was a scrappy opening and Moors took time to start creating chances; Rob Ramshaw saw an effort blocked before Glen Taylor’s cross looped dangerously onto the roof of the net.
Junior Mondal had a clearer sight of goal but blazed over after good work from Taylor and Corey McKeown, while Taylor was denied by an offside flag after following up on Shrimpton’s drive which had come back off the post.
The visitors had the first real opening of the second half when Luca Colville twisted into space inside the area before teeing up Lewis Maloney, but the midfielder swept his effort wide.
It took until the 70th minute for the breakthrough to arrive. Ramshaw skilfully dug himself out of a hole in the left corner to drive inside and his low ball through the area found its way to Shrimpton who rifled home an excellent finish from 14 yards.
Full-back Alex Brown lashed a volley wide and substitute Sam Reed cut inside to test James as the visitors began their search for a leveller.
And their perseverance paid off a minute from the end of normal time when Harry Green whipped a ball in from the left which grazed the head of Michael Ledger before finding its way into the far corner of the net.
